Crossing into Ireland, we’ll see spectacular scenery as we encounter the Cliffs of Moher and drive the celebrated Ring of Kerry peninsula road. We’ll finish in Dublin, viewing the Book of Kells at Trinity College and perhaps sampling a Guinness or two.
The Best of Ireland Itinerary
Day 1
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Belfast. On arrival, we transfer to Hollywood, Belfast and Culloden Estate & Spa (5T), standing on wooded slopes overlooking Belfast Lough and the County Antrim coastline, where you will have time to unwind before dinner is served.
Day 2
This morning, we depart on Northern Ireland’s most essential journey - the Causeway Coastal Route - alongside the glens of Antrim. The first stop is Carrickfergus Castle, one of Northern Ireland’s most striking medieval monuments. We continue to the UNESCO World Heritage Site - The Giant’s Causeway. This geological feat is an unforgettable force of nature; or maybe you will choose to believe the myth that this was the handiwork of a local ogre! We return to our hotel later this afternoon.
Day 3
This morning we depart for our excursion to the Titanic Belfast Exhibition, where you will learn the story of the Titanic, from its construction to the infamous maiden voyage. We then journey south, stopping at Enniskillen for a cruise on Lough Erne, where 160 wooded islands are dotted within hundreds of miles of freshwater. A light lunch is included. We later arrive at Hodson Bay Hotel (4T) or Athlone Springs Hotel (4T).
Day 4
Today we depart for Cork. En route we will travel around Liscannor Bay where we encounter the rugged Cliffs of Moher rising some 700 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. This afternoon we arrive at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa, Little Island (4T), Jurys Inn Cork (4T) or Maryborough Hotel & Spa (4T).
Day 5
Today we make an early start for our excursion into Killarney National Park, where Ireland’s highest mountains sweep down to meet lake shores, and where we will visit the delightful Victorian Muckross House for a guided tour. Our journey continues on the Ring of Kerry. The 179-km route displays the raw natural beauty and spectacular scenery of Southern Ireland, a section of which we will experience on our travels today. We will return to our hotel late afternoon.
Day 6
This morning we depart Cork for Ireland’s oldest city, Waterford, home to the famous crystal glass. We take a look at the Waterford Crystal Visitor Centre to learn of its time-honoured trade, before making our way to Powerscourt House and Gardens. One of the world’s favourite mansions, it’s surrounded by 47 acres of equally impressive gardens, and parkland that boasts Ireland’s highest waterfall. We continue to Dublin and the Jurys Inn Christchurch Dublin (3T), where we will spend the next two nights.
Day 7
Today we introduce you to the Republic of Ireland’s capital city. We’ll visit EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum and then wonder at Dublin’s oldest building, Christ Church Cathedral, in the heart of medieval Dublin, We’ll also stop at Trinity College, proceeding through the grounds of this hallowed educational site to its famous library to view the lavishly decorated Book of Kells. This evening you are free to choose where to dine, so why not enjoy one of the many restaurants in Temple Bar and take in the atmosphere of this lively city.
Day 8
We transfer to the airport for your return flight home. Upon arrival your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
