Spirit of Sri Lanka Itinerary

  • Day 1: Depart London

    Make your way to London Heathrow for your flight to Sri Lanka.

  • Day 2: Arrive Negombo

    Arrive in Colombo where you will be met transferred to your hotel in Negombo. Accommodation: Two Nights, The Heritance Negombo

  • Day 3: Negombo

    Today you will get a feel for the Sri Lankan way of life on a guided walking tour of Negombo, exclusively designed by local expert Mark Forbes. Embrace the local verve for seafood as you visit a fish market, then embark on a sunset cruise on the city’s spectacular lagoon.

  • Day 4: Dambulla

    After breakfast travel to the magnificent Dambulla Cave Temple. This World Heritage-listed Buddhist temple complex is one of the largest and best-preserved in Sri Lanka. The temple’s five incredible sanctuaries are home to a number of ornate statues and a variety of ancient art relating to the life of Buddha. This evening, enjoy a special Signature Experience dinner.   • Day 5: Sigiriya Rock Fortress

    Glimpse Sri Lanka’s majestic past with a tour of the World Heritage-listed Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an ancient citadel and castle ruins, once the home to King Kasyapa. This afternoon, choose from a range of sightseeing options. Tonight, dine like royalty as you indulge in a seven course feast for dinner.

  • Day 6: Polonnaruwa, Minneriya

    After breakfast, the World Heritage-listed ancient city of Polonnaruwa awaits. Later, embark on a safari of the captivating Minneriya National Park, to spy Sri Lankan elephants in their natural environment.

  • Day 7: Kandy

    This morning, visit the exquisite Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya. Later, take to Tuk Tuks for a city tour and visit to The Temple of The Buddha’s Tooth before enjoying a cultural show. Accommodation: Two Nights, Kandy, Earl’s Regency

  • Day 8: Kandy

    Today a number of exciting culinary experiences await.

  • Day 9: Nuwara Eliya

    Today travel through countless tea plantations aboard a scenic train en route to Nuwara Eliya. Upon arrival at your hotel this afternoon, take in the view while enjoying high tea. Accommodation: Two Nights, Nuwara Eliya, Heritance Tea Factory

  • Day 10: Nuwara Eliya

    After breakfast, sample the region’s famed produce with a trained tea taster to discover how tea leaf varieties, climate, soil conditions and processing influences the quality of the final product.

  • Day 11: Yala National Park

    Descend from the mist shrouded hills of Sri Lanka’s interior, back to the island’s coastal lowlands. Your hotel for the next two nights sits on the border of the spectacular Yala National Park. Here elephants, wild boar and if you’re lucky leopards, are known to frequent the resort’s grounds. This evening enjoy a barbecue dinner in the heart of the Sri Lankan bush.   • Day 12: Yala National Park

    Today you will discover your wild side on a Jeep safari of the neighbouring Yala National Park. From herds of elephants, sloth bears, and jackals, to the elusive leopards that can be spotted reclining in the park’s trees, there are plenty of opportunities for viewing a plethora of wildlife today.

  • Day 13: Galle, Colombo

    En route to Colombo, discover the eclectic history and culture of Galle. Founded by Portuguese colonists in the 16th century, this fortified port city is known for its impressive fort and charming colonial architecture. Accommodation: Two Nights, Colombo, Galle Face Hotel

  • Day 14: Colombo

    This morning embark on a guided walking tour of Colombo to experience the colonial influences that make this a much loved city. Enjoy dinner at the Ministry of Crab seafood restaurant.

  • Day 15: Depart Colombo

    Spend time at leisure exploring Colombo before you are transferred to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

  • Day 16: Arrive London

    Arrive back in the UK.
