Calgary Stampede and the Rockies

Calgary Stampede and the Rockies Itinerary
Day 1
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Calgary. On arrival we transfer to the Delta Calgary Downtown (3.5-star) hotel, conveniently located in downtown Calgary, for the first three nights.
Day 2
The Stampede Parade is an exciting kick-off to ten days of good ol’ fashioned western fun. Led by the World Champion Calgary Stampede Showband, the parade showcases floats, bands, riders, cultural entries and many more! You will see over 150 of the most elaborate representations of Western style as they move through the streets of downtown Calgary. This afternoon transfer by coach to Stampede Park in time to take your reserved seat for the Rodeo. Witness the world’s best athletes compete in six major events including bareback, bull-riding, barrel racing and saddle bronco. Explore the park a little before your transfer back to the hotel. Calgary boasts a great choice of dining venues including award-winning restaurants, steakhouses and pubs.
Day 3
This morning we make the most of the Calgary hospitality and visit Rope Square where you can indulge in pancakes and bacon hot off the griddles from the back of the authentic Chuckwagons. Enjoy the sights and sounds of bands, dancers, singers and an old-fashioned gun fight; plus you may be invited to compete in the Lammle’s World Champion Hat Stomp Competition. We head back to Stampede Park this afternoon. Take the Skyride for a birds-eye view of the action, visit the agricultural barns, relax and watch the entertainment on one of the many stages, and take in the sights happening all around you. Your evening entertainment begins with the heart-stopping Chuckwagon Races in an all out dash for the finish line. Chuckwagon racing is an amazing contest of nerves and horsepower - a challenge that ignites thousands of fans each night. Then as the sun goes down, the Grandstand plays host to a spectacular outdoor stage show featuring hundreds of singers, dancers and musicians before the firework finale. Your coach awaits to return you to your hotel.
Day 4
We head for the Rockies today as our coach transfers us to Banff, making a stop en route at Boundary Ranch, where you’ll be treated to a barbecue lunch and hourse-drawn wagon ride. We continue onto Banff and our hotel for three nights, the Banff Caribou Lodge (3.5-star) or Ptarmigan Inn (3.5-star). Some free time this afternoon.
Day 5
This morning our coach transfers us to the famous Lake Louise, named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, Queen Victoria’s fourth daughter. We stop at the Chateau, a luxury hotel, for some picture postcard views of the lake and the magical Victoria Glacier. There is time to take an optional gondola ride or enjoy a relaxing lunch at the Chateau before we visit the surrounding area and lakes including Moraine Lake. Returning to Banff, we are free this evening to experience this lovely mountain resort and its unique array of restaurants and eateries.
Day 6
Today is free to explore Banff, claimed by many to be the loveliest town in North America. Surrounded by the soaring peaks of the mountains and lush green parkland, there is a wide choice of wonderful walks on offer. You can take a gondola ride to Sulphur Mountain, the ‘top of the world’ at 7,500ft, providing spectacular views over the surrounding mountains, Bow River and Banff Town. Visit the hot springs or just stroll around and take it easy in the many cafés. This evening, discover the town’s nightlife or sample the range of restaurants.
Day 7
Today we head northwards through the Rockies to Jasper. We stop at the Columbia Icefield for another highlight of the trip. Here we take an included Ice Explorer ride onto the surface of the Athabasca Glacier (subject to favourable weather conditions). Your journey is led by an experienced driver/guide, who shares a wealth of fascinating information about glaciers, icefields and their impact on our environment. There is also the opportunity to safely step out onto the glacier and stand on this powerful ancient ice. As we journey on, our road cuts high-forested valleys which occasionally obscure the jagged mountain peaks. Be sure to watch out for the wildlife along the way including bears, bighorn sheep and elk. We drive to Jasper and our hotel - the Chateau Jasper (3-star), arriving late afternoon.
Day 8
This morning we board our coach for an unforgettable sightseeing journey that begins with the limestone gorge of Maligne Canyon and continues along the shore of Medicine Lake, rushing Maligne River and one of the most photographed spots in the world, the magnificent Maligne Lake. This evening we enjoy an included dinner with an interpretative talk.
Day 9
We board our coach for Canmore, a small coal mining town nestled in the Canadian Rockies, better known now for its scenic hiking, biking and skiing opportunities. Transfer to the airport for your overnight return flight to the UK.
Day 10
Upon arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
